What is listening?
Listening is more than staying quiet. It means being present in order to understand the other person before we judge them.
What gets in the way
Often, in the middle of a conversation, we are busy preparing our reply instead of listening. This common habit slowly drains a relationship of depth.
A small practice
Try a simple practice: before you answer, restate what you heard in your own words and ask, "Did I understand you correctly?"
